Note: should the members’ ballot decide in favour of option 2, the meetings on 11 August, 8 September and 13 October will be at the Quebec instead of Central Station.
Ballot and Venue
The result of the ballot on the Monday venue circulated with the last newsletter was

However, since the count, Central Station has closed, and has yet to reopen on Mondays. Meetings were therefore moved to Penderel's Oak. The Trustees at their recent meeting decided to continue to meet there for the time being.
Penderel’s Oak is a Wetherspoon pub located at 286–288 High Holborn, London WC1V 7HJ, on the south side of the street, about midway between Holborn and Chancery Lane underground stations. Members normally gather in the rear ground floor area of the pub, beyond the bar, which backs onto the gardens of Lincolns Inn.
Saturday drinks
Group members also meet unofficially on Saturdays from 9pm at Penderel’s Oak; all are welcome to attend.
Newsletter by e-mail
Due to a computer failure, the Group’s record of those members who prefer to receive this newsletter by e-mail, and their addresses, has been lost. This newsletter will therefore be sent to the latest e-mail address we have. But should it bounce back, it will be sent by post, just as it will to members preferring postal copies, with a request for you to re-send your up-to-date e-mail address to robertcook@cix.co.uk.
August trip
Seven members and eight friends went to Strasbourg via Eurostar and the newly opened TGV Est line and had an enjoyable time in this picturesque and gastronomic city.
Obituary
Members who attended group meetings in the 1970s and 1980s may remember John Stevens-Guille. We regret to report that he died last month in Devonshire, aged 80.
